Newsletter week 5

posted 7 Nov 2011, 13:33 by Lancaster University Canoe Club   [ updated 7 Nov 2011, 13:33 ]

Just a quick thanks to everyone who organised and came to Tyne tour for making it such an awesome weekend, hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and weren’t put off by the cold!

This Saturday we may possibly be having an intermediate trip, there will be an interest/sign up on the forum shortly. If you aren’t sure if you class as an intermediate speak to either of the River captains, Aileen and Dave, or any member of the Exec.

Pool session on 17th November

The sports centre is having an official opening, so we are having another showcase type thing on Thursday the 17th November. It will be starting at either 11.30am or 12.15 and will go on for about 45mins- 1 hour. We will be putting a post up on the forum to see who could attend this (as obviously people might have lectures at this time) and depending on who can attend we can work around what type of skills we want to show off!

This weeks social will be held on Wednesday, and we are just going for drinks in the Friary as most people will still be recovering from Tyne tour. Bridget will be meeting people on campus at 7.45pm by the Chaplaincy centre, and for anyone heading from town we are expecting to be there by 8.30pm.

This weekend is our first FOA of the year, please check the forum for details of transport/ leaving times etc within the next few days.

3* assessment – There are still a few places left on the course so check out the details on the forum, it’s never a bad thing to have one more thing to write on your CV and it should be a fun day!

This week fitness training on Tuesday will be squash. We will be meeting in the new sports centre at half 5 and we have two courts booked til 7pm. Don’t worry if you don’t have a racket or have never played before as we can borrow these from the sports centre and someone will explain the rules etc to you before we start.

Hoodys and Montanes

Within the next week or two the sign up for these will be opening. This is just a warning to get saving some money as this year the Hoodys will be around £20- £25 and the Montanes should be around £65- £70. The online shop has been set up for the hoodys so buying them will be slightly different this year but I will post up with more details soon.

Much love,

The Exec x
